Our Summer Program
For over fourteen years, ARC-EN-CIEL (AEC) Summer Program has created a stimulating environment of community and friendship, offering children a wholesome, enriching, challenging and fun-filled program that encourages independence while learning.
Children have the opportunity to make new friends, learn new skills or simply improve on current ones, and remain busy and active throughout the summer months. Your child will have the opportunity to enjoy extended periods of time, both inside and outside, in addition to enjoying water play and engaging in outdoor games.
Play is not a mere passing of time. Play is spontaneous and instinctive, a means of communication and expression. This development is step-by-step; learning new skills and developing self is a minute-to-minute lifelong process.
In addition, our Summer Program prepares children for a seamless transition in the fall. This relaxed but focused time provides continuity in school subjects throughout the summer months.
Groupings
Toddlers: Children ages 15 months-3 years spend time exploring age appropriate activities, with lots of opportunity for movement and self-expression. Children enjoy water play and plenty of outside time. Every week they participate in a summer enrichment event (see flyer for details).
Primary: Students ages 3 - 6 years begin with community time and then do activities in their classroom environment, allowing new students the opportunity to discover the Montessori materials, and returning students to refine and advance their skills. Participation in a number of fun activities, water play and much outside time is part of their daily routine. Every week they participate in a summer enrichment event.
Schedule
Our program allows you maximum flexibility in planning your summer, ensuring that all students have the opportunity to benefit from all or part of our summer program. The Program begins the week after AEC’s academic year ends and continues through the end of August. You may sign up for any combination of weeks, with a minimum of two consecutive weeks. Rest assured that all new students will be transitioned into the program at a pace that suits his/her individual needs.
